These capsules are also used to protect the kidneys in people with diabetes or kidney disease. Ramipril belongs to a group of medicines called ACE inhibitors. It works by relaxing blood vessels, making it easier for blood to flow through the body. This medicine is taken once daily with or without food, as prescribed by your doctor.
